More than ever before we are becoming consumers focused on environmental sustainability. AIAIAI is putting the need for high quality, eco-friendly products at the forefront of their design for the new TMA-2 headphone, in collaboration with Nina Tune. This edition features recycled vinyl records as one of the core materials for the headphone shell. Often the DJs choice since their release in 2015, this idea is suitable for the ethos of AIAIAI, which is to create long-lasting and modular products. Featuring a choice of either on-ear or over-ear vegan leather cushions, it matches the environmentally conscious and forward thinking design.
It seems like a suitable collaboration — Ninja Tune have been putting out a great selection of records on wax since the 90s, including the likes of Little Dragon, Run The Jewels and Hiatus Kaiyote. Formed in 1990 by Matt Black & Jon More (Coldcut), they have established themselves as one of the world’s leading independent record labels.
Ninja Tune’s Senior Designer, Joe Durnan:
"For Ninja Tune as a label, we are keen to not only celebrate the past but also mark our intentions going forward both sonically and ethically. We are keenly aware of the need to explore more ecological and earth positive means of manufacturing. To continue to exist as an industry we need to place these topics at the forefront of discussions and decisions. This collaboration is not the final answer but more so an example of how working towards greener solutions can lead to innovative and exciting results. This project is an opportunity to continue to shine a light on an increasingly pressing global issue.”
